• Maisie The Palace Cat Book

A musician who works with characterful creatures on a daily basis (such as bell-ringing swans) may develop an affinity, almost insight, into their thoughts and feelings. Similarly the Maisie The Palace Cat book emerged out of nine original songs inspired by the moggie´s true-life adventures since she came to live at the Bishop´s Palace.

  • Maisie

Maisie is a tabby who has risen from her farm origins. She ranges and guards her palace with pride, sometimes even leading tour groups of its 14+ acres of grounds. The stories of her perils in high places or having to be rescued from the moat are factual. She is skilled at hunting or coaxing food out of visitors on the outdoor terrace.

  • Carol Arblaster

Carol is a U.S. born self-taught Celtic harpist, singer/songwriter. She has released three distinctive CD´s and now even a children´s book about her cat, Maisie, who lives with her and her husband at the Medieval, moated Bishop´s Palace. There they caretake the property and its swans.

  • Anne Moorse

Anne Moorse is widely known for her distinctive watercolours, inspired by observing people and places in everyday life. She has exhibited her art in Spain, Hong Kong and the Middle East. She resides in Sherborne, Dorset England.

  • Wells, Somerset in England

Wells, near Bath in Somerset is England’s smallest city, however, it boasts a Medieval market place, magnificent Cathedral, and the loveliest Bishop’s Palace in the land. It is nestled where the Somerset levels meet the Mendip Hills in close proximity to geologic wonders such as Glastonbury Tor, Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge.

Maisie The Palace Cat

The enchantment begins with the cover. This vintage gorgeous watercolour illustration style is employed throughout. One might be forgiven for surmising the story is largely a fantasy tale, but upon opening the lyric songbook (in CD pouch, back cover) to behold the photographs, the title is justified: "The Real Life Adventures of Maisie the Palace Cat" . Her famous feline neighbour, Louis, of the Cathedral is also featured. Bishop Peter of Bath & Wells narrates the story on CD with a rich voice. The songs Carol sings are backed by skilled and lively musicians. Authentic sound effects are also used to make this a charming experience of first class quality.
